About the Show

The American tribal love-rock musical that changed theatre forever.

Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and the seismic social shifts of the late 1960s, HAIR follows a group of politically active, long-haired hippies living a bohemian life in New York City. United in their rejection of war, conformity, and repression, they champion a world of peace, free love, and radical self-expression.

At the heart of the story is Claude – a gentle soul torn between the expectations of his conservative parents and the pull of the counterculture. As he grapples with whether to resist the draft or serve in Vietnam, Claude is swept up in a psychedelic, passionate world of friends, protests, music, and personal discovery.

HAIR is an unfiltered snapshot of a generation in revolt. Its characters – Berger, Sheila, Woof, Hud, Jeanie and others – aren’t just roles, they’re avatars of a restless youth fighting for identity, agency, and a better world. Through their joys, sorrows, and rebellions, the show explores timeless themes of war and peace, freedom and oppression, individuality and community.

With its iconic rock score featuring songs like “Aquarius,” “Let the Sunshine In,” “I Got Life” and “Good Morning Starshine,” HAIR broke new ground in musical theatre – blending rock music with raw emotion, political commentary, and boundary-pushing storytelling. It was the first Broadway show to feature full nudity, frank depictions of drug use and sexuality, and a cast that spoke directly to its audience with urgent relevance.

This production pays tribute to those original trailblazing stagings – keeping the soul of HAIR alive while inviting audiences to rediscover the power, poetry, and passion of one of theatre’s most revolutionary works.

HAIR isn’t just a musical – it’s a movement.
