Paul Norton is an acclaimed Australian singer, songwriter and guitarist whose career spans more than four decades. Rising to fame in the early 1980s as a member of Melbourne band The Runners, Norton launched a successful solo career in 1987 and scored his breakthrough hit with “Stuck on You” in 1989, which peaked at No. 3 on the national charts and earned gold accreditation. His debut album Under a Southern Sky (1990) and follow-up Let It Fly (1992) established him as one of Australia’s leading singer-songwriters of the era.
Norton has continued to explore diverse projects, from forming the roots-rock outfit Hillbilly Moon with Peter Wells of Rose Tattoo, to touring and appearing in major nostalgic concert line-ups such as Pure Gold Live. In recent years he has broadened his scope into theatre, serving as Musical Director for productions with the Australian Shakespeare Company, including landmark seasons of Macbeth in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens.
Married to fellow performer Wendy Stapleton, Norton is also the father of singer Ally Mac. Still active on stage and in the studio, he remains a celebrated figure in Australian rock and theatre.
